Angela Halasey was born in Hawaii and grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of Kaua'i. She has been drawing ever since she can remember. The tropical flora and fauna provided her with plenty of artistic inspiration and scientific curiosity.
In 2006 she was admitted to Washington State University. While at WSU, she had the opportunity to illustrate from a wide range of both mounted and dissected specimens. It was here that she discovered the path of scientific illustration- a career that combined her skills in art and science. Later, she was commissioned by her comparative anatomy professor to create textbook and laboratory manual illustrations. In 2010 she graduated Cum Laude from WSU with a B.S. in Zoology.
Angela has experience illustrating a variety of subjects, including plants, animals, cells, and chemical pathways. Her most recent work was creating digital illustrations for the award-winning educational website Ask A Biologist. She currently lives in the American Southwest with her husband and Asparagus densiflorus.
